Loaded and Launched, Valtix Accelerates Network Security to DevOps Speeds
Choose one: fast and vulnerable, or slow and safe? These could be acceptable options for, say, a rafting trip. But not when it comes to securing a cloud computing network. Yet security bottlenecks limit the speed and agility of the cloud, creating a frustrating choice for businesses.
“The number one reason people go to the cloud is for agility,” said Vishal Jain (pictured, left), co-founder and CEO of Valtix Inc. “And network security shouldn’t stop that .”
Jain and Valtix Product Manager Brian Lazear (pictured, right) spoke with John Furrier (@furrier) and Dave Vellante (@dvellante), co-hosts of theCUBE, SiliconANGLE Media’s mobile live-streaming studio, at the AWS re:Inforce event in Boston. They discussed Valtrix’s value proposition and the technology behind its solutions for scaling network security in the cloud (see the full interview with transcript here). (*Disclosure below.)
Cloud-native platform provides an agile security option
“We offer a third option, which is agile and secure,” said Jain, describing Valtix’s first cloud-native network security platform. The company, which just came out of stealth mode, raised $14 million in funding.
The company was created to address the failure of network security to keep pace with cloud development.
“We’ve seen that network security has challenges in how it scales in the cloud,” Jain said. He gives three reasons: “The main thing is that the cloud is spreading out…it’s a new logical parameter that you see. The second thing we saw is that apps are nimble. And the third thing is that security always lags behind DevOps. So we want to make sure that network security is scaled with apps,” Jain explained.
As a native cloud platform, Valtix can keep pace with the applications it is designed to protect and automatically deliver unified visibility and application. “We have a [centralized cloud] controller that will discover all of your apps, so a company can have apps that cross your accounts and even cross your cloud,” Jain said.
The cloud controller is backed up by the Valtix cloud firewall. Together, they deliver cloud-native scalability, agility, and speed, combined with unified multicloud security.
“This is clearly a transformation…a big market opportunity to help customers,” Lazear concluded.
