Cloud-native network security startup Valtix raises $12.5 million
Cloud-native network security startup Valtix Inc. today announced the closing of a $12.5 million strategic funding round led by Cisco Investments, Northgate Capital and The Syndicate Group.
The round brings the total amount raised by Valtix to more than $26.5 million, following an initial seed round of $14 million in June 2019.
Valtix offers a multi-cloud network security platform that it says is designed to keep up with the fast pace of cloud application development.
In a June 2019 interview on theCUBE, SiliconANGLE’s mobile live-streaming studio, Valtix co-founder and then-CEO Vishal Jain explained that most companies are looking to the cloud for the agility they need. he offers, only to find that traditional security offerings can’t keep up. this.
“We’ve seen that network security has challenges in how it scales in the cloud,” Jain said at the time. “The bottom line is that the cloud is sprawl…it’s a new logical parameter you see. The second thing we saw is that apps are agile. And the third thing is that security always lags behind DevOps. So we want to make sure that network security can be scaled with apps. »
Valtix can keep pace with the development of new cloud-native applications and automatically provide unified application and visibility, the company said, by using a centralized cloud controller that automatically discovers all of a customer’s applications across the various clouds it has. ‘he uses. It then automates security deployment and application defense.
Security is further enhanced by the Valtix Cloud Firewall. This approach, which Valtix likes to call “discover, deploy, defend,” differs from traditional network security offerings that work by collocating security functions.
Valtix’s platform became generally available on Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud Platform last year, and has customers in the financial services, healthcare, retail and government industries on the three platforms.
Late last year, Valtix revamped its management team, hiring former Jupiter Networks Inc. and Big Switch Networks Inc. executive Douglas Murray as CEO to replace Jain, who is now the director of business technology. Valtix has also hired Anthony Narducci as the new Vice President of Global Sales and Joe Palazola as Vice President of Global Operations.
“Valtix has created the technology that will define the next decade of multicloud network security,” said Murray.
Valtix said it would use the new capital to accelerate a go-to-market strategy designed to help it grow its platform in 2021.
